The quarter-moon in the sky above her was hidden, and the stars disappeared behind the dense foliage. A chilling breeze whipped the branches back and dark storm clouds were covering the night, bringing with them misfortune and bad weather. Xadria Graestar blew a lock of black hair our from before her eyes, revealing the Yin sigel on her forehead. Crouched to the forest floor, her pale, slender fingers traced along the branches that had fallen, brushed aside the leaves. That was that last time she would drop a stone, least of all in the dark - even if it was on accident. Her dark blue eyes studied the ground as if her lifeline had fallen; in a way, it had. "Alayra..." she whispered, "Just leave me to die, will you?" She murmered, complaining to the stone she couldn't find. Confound stupid Guardians, they were all trouble.

Mayriah, always one to sneak and hide, was also croutched in a tree when she heard the whispering. She narrowed her eyes. She was on her way to see the Defenders again. Silently she moved to see who was there.

Xadria's eyebrow knit with concentration. She could've sworn she heard something - or someone - nearby. She could've been mistaken, but she was getting used to trusting her senses a bit more of late. Her fingers danced along her belt, searching for her stone pouch.

"I'd hold those if I were you." came a cold voice from behind Xadria. Mayriah crept forwards, her hand already holding her own stones.

Xadria turned slowly, cool eyes meeting Mayriah's, "Is that a threat or a comment?" She asked, and though her mouth was upturned into a smile, her tone was cold and mirthless.

"Think of it as both." May didn't relieve her stones. "Tell me your name or I'll call my guardian." Wait a minute. If I call my guardian she'll know who I am!

Xadria smiled, amused in the darkest form, "Am I supposed to be afraid?" Then her thin eyebrows met, "Oh, wait, you're a defender." Only defenders get guardians, unless someone gives them one illegally...

{{Close. Think Amis-Yan.}}
May breathed a sigh. "Yes, I'm a Defender..." Amoung other things. "Now tell me your name. I need to get going." May squinted. This girl was quite familiour, but she couldn't place it.

Xadria ignored her last comment, "Then we are on the same side. I am no threat to you." Not yet. "You have no right to be asking for my name without even starting with yours; is this how you normally make friends, 'Who are you? I've gotta get out of here'?" There's a reason you're travelling alone.

Mayriah's face twitched. She'd love to yell the truth at this girl, but she knew better then to shout it out to the heavens. "My name is Mayriah. Now what is your name?" Please don't recognise the name...

"My name is Xadria." Why did the name ring a bell to her? It sounded so familiar; Mayriah. To ask, or not to ask? That was the question. Xadria sounded quite cross, vexation lining her face, "I believe I have heard your name before, though where and what about remains to me a mystery; care to shed some light?"

Mayriah scowled. "Thats for me to know, and you to find out." She turned. "Coming?" At least she didin't think of Illiana... Shut up me!

Dare I ask? She asked, almost teasingly in her mind, Why does that sound so familiar? What is it? "Evidently I am now welcome here. Yes, I'm coming." She said flatly, but her walls were high up and there was little information she would willingly reveal. Almost disbelieving, she fell into step beside Mayriah.

Mayriah smiled. She wasn't a cold girl, but she did her best to hide her emotions, so she nodded and stepped forward. "What village do you come from?" she asked. It was her rearing, telling her to always be polite.

"Somewhere in Ogama-Gor." Wow. That was specific; wasn't getting better, though, until Mayriah could tell more about herself.
"Where are you from?"

Mayriah chewed on that. Revealing too much meant that she risked telling who she was, and that meant that Brakkus could find her. Di-Gata! She decided on the truth...or at least, a little bit. "I come from a monastary. I've lived in many places. Recently I returned from an...a travel in the Bin Yaddi Mountins." There. Let the girl think what she wanted.

Xadria chewed her lower lip in thought; she felt as if she should be throwing questions at the girl viciously, but she didn't really feel like ending up in an arguement, as if her day hadn't been bad enough already.
"There is no monastary that is a place all on its own - you must be from somewhere in the realm."

Mayriah chuckled to herself. This girl was good. "Well, as a Defender, I was born in the temple of Defenders." That was true enough. "I suppose the most place I can call home is Amis-" STOP! WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING!? She wanted to kill herslef. That wasn't supposed to come out!

Xadria casually pretended not to acknowledge Mayriah's sudden break of speech, "Amis-Yan, perhaps?" She examined her neat fingernails, not really looking up towards the other girl.
